Fittings are available in a wide variety of designs. How do you know if a particular fitting is right for your particular application? One important consideration is the kind of hydraulic fluid (or other media) circulating through the system: water, oil, or another substance. You need to make sure that the fitting you’re using has been engineered for use with your hydraulic media. In addition, bear in mind that metal (e.g.steel) fittings can better withstand high-pressure systems than plastic (e.g., polypropylene) devices, although metal is also more prone to corrosion.
