A hydraulic power pack is essentially a stand-alone piece of equipment—that is, not built into the device it powers—used to supply energy to a hydraulic system. These devices can be found in a wide array of sizes, from tiny portable units to huge, bulky machines. White House gear includes parts for these various systems.

This versatility makes them valuable to many industries: agriculture, military, aerospace, construction, and a number of other fields. Bulldozers and rubbish trucks are merely a couple of vehicles that commonly rely on hydraulic power packs. When you use equipment involved in lifting heavy materials, it’s likely to require a functional power pack.

As we have noted, power packs vary in construction, but they tend to have certain design features in common. Power packs will generally have a hydraulic pump, a reservoir to hold fluid, a motor, and a certain number of supply lines. When connected to a hydraulic system, these units work powerfully to supply the energy needed to keep everything running efficiently.

Types of Power Packs and Power Pack Comps

We offer a wide variety of units, from splined couplings to power pack builds, to hydraulic pumps, motors, and adaptors. Our power pack builds help energize your single-phase hydraulic power pack or other equipment. If you require a spline sleeve, quill drive adapter, electric motor, or plastic coupling, add it to your cart or contact us online for help finding what you’re looking for. Powerpack build assemblies and related parts, including O-rings, seals, hose fittings, and high-torque orbital motors, are available.

Why Power Packs Are Needed

A power source is needed to drive the motors and other moving parts that enable a hydraulic system to work. Maintaining fluid pressure is a critical aspect of this process. For hydraulic pumps to deliver the desired performance, the power unit must have the correct power capacity, pressure rating, and reservoir volume. Size and pumping strength are key factors as well. The power unit itself enables hydraulic fluid to be pumped through the system; without it, there wouldn’t be a power source or a way to move fluid to where it needs to be.

Power packs require routine maintenance in order to ensure that they perform optimally. A maintenance program should include periodically replacing the hydraulic fluid (once per year is often acceptable), examining the tubing for any defects (do this once a month), and checking for the development of corrosion in the reservoir. Failure to perform routine maintenance may significantly shorten the lifespan of your power pack.

Even with proper maintenance, however, hydraulic power packs will eventually become inoperable. When that occurs, you can always come to White House Products for a replacement—we have a very large selection that you can explore at your leisure.
